New Store Fixtures

Country Store Fixtures and Decor Transport Customers to a Simpler Time and Place

Country stores are popular destinations in small towns and tourist hot spots across the country. Country store retailers rely on home spun products, as well as fixtures and d?cor when it comes to turning their store into a destination.

Hand cooked peanuts, homemade candles and fresh picked apples are part of the allure of country stores. But the country store fixtures and atmosphere have become just as important as products when it comes to drawing large crowds and finding success running a country store. The theme of a country store has to go beyond just the products. A successful country store is like a time machine, providing an environment that reminds shoppers of a simpler time in America.

Shelving is a great place to start. Wherever possible, retailers should use wooden country store fixtures and shelving to create an old time atmosphere as customers browse through the aisles. In addition to wooden shelving, bushel baskets have also become popular tools for displaying products in country stores.

When it comes to decor, use ?anything that is old or looks old? to create authentic accent pieces. Anything from old car parts to 5 cent soda signs will do the trick. When it comes to lighting, wall mounted electric lanterns and candles are popular choices for country store fixtures.

If you?re short on inspiration, don?t be afraid to flip through a Norman Rockwell calendar or call on older relatives and friends to help you deliver authenticity to your environment?s design. When in doubt, rent a movie that?s set in the time period you?re trying to recreate. Sometimes retailers just need to find that small spark of inspiration that gets them headed down the right path.

Bathroom Fixtures

When homeowners make the decision to upgrade the fixtures in their home, they generally choose a bathroom remodel job to add value and versatility to their home. These homeowners may choose to make the changes themselves or hire a building contractor to complete the project in record time, with little fuss and very fine detailing.

There are many fine choices to be found in bathroom fixtures. With a larger variety of dimensions to pick from, homeowners feel free to explore all available finishes to find the right home decorations for their bathroom remodel. There are finishes that are made in light, medium and dark wood choices that homeowners can choose, as well as white, black, and stone.

Homeowners are free to set a particular price range for their remodel job using exact pricing found on many bathroom remodeling websites, and they quite capably fine tune that price down to the last fixture that will be placed in their new bathroom. They locate bathroom remodeling stores using Internet search engines and find one that offers luxurious fixtures at affordable prices.

Then homeowners are free to concentrate their creative talents and find marvelous bathroom vanities that slide right into place without over-extending the budget one bit. Some online bathroom remodeling stores make it so easy to pick and choose between different styles and homeowners find these stores a lot of fun to spend their free time in.

The famous name brands of bathroom fixtures found on these bathroom remodel websites include Ambella Home, Cheviot, and Cole and Co., and other prestigious companies like Regatta, St. Thomas, and Terra Acqua. There are so many fine companies to explore that homeowners make the time in their daily schedules to explore all of the fixture choices using Internet access that affords them ample time to view them at home.

When homeowners are considering bathroom remodel opportunities they are clearly focused on finding the highest quality fixtures that their money can buy. Since vanities are the centerpiece to many bathroom designs, they are the first item on the list that they choose to view at their leisure.

It is very easy for homeowners to focus on bathroom fixtures that compliment the vanity they plan to purchase when they use the bathroom remodeling sites. All of inventory is organized in a very understanding manner. These fixtures might include lighting, toilet, towel racks and shower door designs that all seem to come together in record time when an Internet bathroom remodeling website is used.

By the end of their tour of all the bathroom remodeling furniture and fixtures they find online, many homeowners feel quite proud of their choices. A novice could enter a bathroom remodeling website with very little knowledge under their belt of what a bathroom remodeling job entails, and exit the remodeling website feeling like a seasoned professional.

These visits are very reassuring to many homeowners, because they take their purchases very seriously. Their choices will affect the lives of their families for a very long time and they want each decision they make to be the right one.

Lava Lamps: Modern Floor Lamps Or Unsightly Fixtures?

The lava lamp, filled with its smelly gunk, should have remained in the 1960s. It is back in fashion today, reminding me how the little girl I was disappointed her mother by buying one against her wishes.

Most styles fall out of favor but some come back in fashion over the years, and it is not always for the best. The modern wonder that is the lava lamp, for instance, is one sixties fixture that I would have preferred remained confined to that decade.

I thought they were the greatest thing ever when I was a kid: several of my friends had one of those floor lamps at home, and so did my older sister in her apartment. As there was no spare outlet in my bedroom, my mother refused to get me one as I had asked for my birthday and Christmas. She didn?t like the way they look so having one in another part of our home was not an option either.

I had always been a well behaved child and listened to my parents, yet my obsession with lava lamps brought out the worst in me: I just had to have one. I managed to save the money I had earned babysitting to go shopping with a girlfriend: a local store was running a sale on lava lamps, so I could not resist the temptation. I thought it would give a really great glow from my closet, so I took my newly acquired lamp to my room thinking that my mom would never find out.

She had however been right about there not being a spare socket in my room: I had to take an extension cord from the storage area and run it behind the dresser in order to get into the closet. I placed the lamp on top of the box that it came with and switched it on. It turned out that the lamp had been on clearance due to its particularly dreadful color, yet I was so excited by my purchase that I really enjoyed watching the brownish orange blobs moving about. Soon afterwards my mother called me down for dinner. We heard a sudden crash upstairs while we were eating. My cat came running down the stairs all puffed up, and flattened to hide under the sofa: she had knocked my new lamp over and scared herself silly in the process.

My mother was wondering were the liquid on the floor came from before she saw the box. The only thing she said was asking me to clean up the mess. This was no easy process: to this day I do not know what kind of liquid goes into lava lamps, but I can tell you that it is slimy and smelly. The blobs were so slippery that they were nearly impossible to pick up, and it took me two hours to have the room cleaned. The smell of the liquid, however, was not going away and I could not sleep in my bedroom that night. I went to tell my mom how sorry I was. This was the only time that she ever said I had disappointed her.

Whenever I see lava lamps in stores today I struggle to remember why I was so obsessed with them, and I can still see my mother?s disappointed face as she told me to clean up the mess.

Maxium Profits from proper store fixture displays

When creating the layout and visuals for your retail location, you must remember that every surface in the store is an opportunity for valuable product promotion. Any medium-sized boutique store or larger will probably require some sort of aisle structure in its layout. This is simply the most efficient way to direct traffic, utilize space, and organize merchandise. If you are using any aisles in your layout, you should consider the "end-cap" space. Unfortunately end-caps tend to summon visions of supermarkets, with mountains of cereal boxes piled high on every end-cap to promote the daily special. You may be thinking that this marketing technique is effective enough for the grocery store, but you are looking to create a more sophisticated atmosphere in your retail location. However, end-cap displays need not appear so base.

The end-cap of an aisle is an ideal place to feature select merchandise. Any new product or new information can be attractively, stylishly introduced to your customers when you create an end-cap display. Recently, super-retailer Wal-Mart set an extremely ambitious sales goal for a certain type of light bulb. Consumers don't tend to receive their information about light-bulbs from advertising or news, they just buy what they've always bought. Wal-Mart needed an innovative way to introduce new information about this product, and convince people to give it a try. They abandoned the typical mountain-of-cereal-boxes model and created a diorama for the end-cap of the light bulb isle that prominently displayed this certain type of light bulb and gave valuable information about the product. As a result, they saw a jump in revenue. A similar approach can be used to increase information about any variety of products--from cookware to blue jeans, from cologne to shampoo. Don't let this valuable surface space go to waste in your retail store--with directed visual merchandising end-cap displays can be stylish and informative, and will definitely boost sales.

Store Fixtures

As the retail store industry has developed, visual merchandising and product display has become a major concern of business owners. As a result, store fixtures of every variety have been produced to maximize the exposure of products on the sales floor. Today, retail stores carry everything from clothes, to toys, electronics, to kitchen accessories. It is important for a sales manager to have the tools necessary for displaying these varieties of items in the most effective way. Some of the many store fixtures commonly used today are gridwall fixtures, clothing store fixtures (such as hangers, racks, and mannequins), display cases, shopping bags, jewelry displays, slatwall fixtures, and good old fashioned shelves. Gridwall and slatwall fixtures serve a similar purpose by providing display space along the walls of a retail store. Slatwalls use grooves and pieces of hardware, while gridwalls have a grid system that can be interlocked with different display hardware. Hooks, shelves, baskets, and literature holders are just a few of the many accessories that can be added to these displays to produce a more vertical and less space consuming display. Hangers are a major part of clothing display. There are so many types of hangers and hanger accessories that can accommodate any retail clothing environment. It is important to not only match the store environment with clothing hangers, but also to choose the right hangers for the style and preservation of the clothes for sale. Some of the materials hangers are produced from today are wood, metal, plastic, and fiberglass. Mannequins are also a very important player in clothing display. Ranging from full-length life-size portrayals to torsos and hanging forms, they bring the clothes to life by giving them a human shape and helping the customer imagine their true appearance. Display cases are important for both display and security of precious products. They can be framed with several different metals or wood and can be full vision, half vision, open cases, register stands, countertop, oaken, pedestal, portable, or custom. Within these varieties of displays are also a variety of display options for bracelets, rings, chains, watches, or necklaces, and these come in materials such as metal, wood, velvet, or acrylic. Though many do not think of shopping bags as store fixtures, they are possibly one of the most important. Craft bags, tinted bags, shopping baskets, carts, and holiday bags are all used to make the shopping experience a little easier. Think of what shopping would be like without bags. Store fixtures give retail stores shape and personality organizing and displaying products in the most effective and enjoyable way possible. It is important to consider store fixtures of every product in a store. Although this may seem to get expensive, the profits they will produce and help they will bring to managers and employees will far outweigh the cost. Where to Buy Lighting Fixtures

In the same manner in which jewelry compliments attire, light fixtures accentuate a room and create a definite mood. Lighting fixtures, other than lighting a space, add safety, comfort and a sense of drama. Lighting fixtures are essential to make the most of any space. They are one of the first things that need to be installed when building or renovating a home. Light fixtures are an indispensable part of every home, office, restaurant, recreation center and art studio. Selecting the most appropriate lighting fixture for a home can sometimes become a daunting task. A lighting fixture must be purchased in accordance to its estimated application. The general or ambient lighting illuminates an entire room. Task lighting helps with focusing while reading, sewing or cooking. The third type is accent lighting, which spotlights decorative objects.

Lighting fixtures can be bought from any home decorative store. They specialize in the various designs, shapes and colors of light fixtures. It is advisable to take an interior decorator along, while choosing light fixtures. There are many companies that have realized the potential of online shopping. They have begun to sell light fixtures on the Internet, at cheap and discounted prices. Bloggers - Will They be a Fixture in Corporate America?

How did Blogging get so popular so fast?

It does seem that blogging caught on like wildfire. Why is it so popular? Because it's human nature to voice your 2 cents on a subject, whether good or bad. Not to mention, there are blogging sites popping up all over the place, the templates are nice looking and easy to use and best of all, they are FREE. What does this mean for domain companies? website provider and builders? Bloggers are pulling the rug out from underneath them.

How did Corporate America become involved with blogging?

The same way tv and radio became involved with them. Bloggers voice their opinions much like a stock analyst. When do you get this information from the analyst? When the television program airs or in a radio program. When does the public learn about bloggers' opinions? At any moment on the internet. The internet is surely becoming bigger, faster and foremost in our world of information.

Corporate America and the Blogger

It only makes sense that businesses want to attach themselves to the most vocal and prominent bloggers. It is just another way of making themselves attractive to the wordsmiths rather than focusing on stock analysts. Bloggers have a reputation of being the new kid on the block that happens to be the underdog. This makes a perfect spoil for conglomerates to embrace the bloggers so that they can voice their opinions.

Bloggers are the new look of "every man". Symbolically, the blogger has turned Wall Street on its' collective ear as the "new every man" is suddenly being given new clout via a computer. It's no wonder Corporate America has hired bloggers to blog on their behalf. This just isn't a payoff, they are being analyzed just as the stock analysts have done in prior years.

It's just that it's nice to know that the "every man" has a voice in Corporate America.

Which Type Of Light Fixtures Are Appropriate For Your Home?

The first thing to consider before purchasing a light fixture is what its purpose will be. There are different lights for different applications. General or ambient lights are a type of light fixture you would use to light up an entire room. Light fixtures like wall sconces, chandeliers, flush-mount lights and even recessed lights can fall into this category. You would use accent type lighting to better show a small area, like artwork. Tasks, like cooking or using the computer require task lighting.

The type of light bulb you use can drastically affect the feel of a room or the quality of light you'll see when performing a task. Halogen lights provide a light quality that is very bright and with a spectrum that is closest to natural sunlight. These types of fixtures are most often used in task lights.

Fluorescent bulbs are more energy efficient than incandescent light. A 40-watt fluorescent light provides the same brightness as a 100-watt incandescent bulb. The light quality on either depends on the particular make of the bulb. Both incandescent and fluorescent lights come in 'daylight' makes and provide a whiter light than regular bulbs. In the living room, try to avoid having a singular ceiling light fixture being your main light source. Not only will a single ceiling light affect your ability to watch TV because of the glare, it will make the entire room seem less inviting. A matching set of two table lamps and one or two floor lamps will provide light that is warm and welcoming. Plus, since this type of fixture is well shaded, it won't cause nearly as much glare on the TV screen.

An intimate dining room atmosphere can be achieved by using a chandelier that's centrally mounted above the dining room table. A rheostat (also called a dimmer) switch that's in-line with the chandelier gives you the ability to set infinite levels of brightness to coordinate with whatever type of occasion dinner is being served for. Bright for family gatherings and birthday parties, a gentle glow for a more romantic dinner and wine.

Ambient mixed with accent lighting is great for a bedroom. Wall-mounted sconces are great for general lighting. Floor lamps with a task-light on a swing arm are perfect for beside the bed, so you can use it either to read or to get ready for work in the morning without having to stumble across the dark room to hit the switch for the wall sconces.

Recessed lights are great for rooms that have low ceilings because they don't take up any usable space. Even though the space gained by switching to this type of light fixture is minimal, they tend to have the effect of making a room appear much larger and more open than it was prior to installing them.

You should consider the price, style and most importantly the purpose of a light fixture before you buy. Indeed, there's a lot to consider when shopping for a light fixture, but with the basic knowledge outlined above you can be sure that any decision you make will be an informed one.

You can do a few things right around your home to save money today. This doesn't mean that you have to go wild and purchase a complete solar energy system to realize free energy. In fact, you may want to start out with some simple solar landscape lighting. Solar outdoor lighting fixtures around your home will offer a safer environment for you and your guests.

By simply allowing the sunshine into your home on a cool day, you will get warm the room. This is considered to be a passive source of solar energy. A lot of the time we use this energy without thinking about it, but there are methods of harnessing this energy to store it, control it or move it to a more convenient location. If you are remodeling your existing home or building a new one, consider integrating plans for a passive solar power system. Even adding a few extras and add-ons to your existing home, you will find that over time your energy costs will remain the same or become less.

You are bound to save money even over a short period of time when you use solar application products such as solar outdoor lighting fixtures, fan chargers, solar ovens, radios, and battery chargers. Remember that you may have to make a considerable outlay initially, and solar energy will take time to get used to. According to experts in the field, most systems repay themselves in a matter of five to 10 years. After all, it is prudent to save where you can! You may even want to start small with a solar ceiling fan or some solar decorative landscape lighting around your home and yard.

Lighting Fixtures

Composite units that contain at least a light source and an outer shell that aids alignment with an electrical power socket are the basic prerequisites of lighting fixtures. From basic fixtures to sophisticated ones there are several varieties of lighting fixtures manufactured for a varied number of uses. The classification of lighting fixtures by type is done either on the basis of how it is installed or its function.

Lighting fixtures have a variety of applications. Besides being used in homes, lighting fixtures are used for outdoor applications like roadway lighting, parking lighting, area lighting, walkway lighting, and lighting of sports arenas among others. Specialized lighting fixtures that are suitable for each of these applications are manufactured. While some standard fittings are always available, bulk orders of specific designs are manufactured on request.

The run of the mill table lamps used in homes and offices are also light fixtures and are known as free standing light fixtures. Fixtures that are concealed behind a ceiling or wall are referred to as recessed lighting fixtures. If some part of the fixture is exposed then this kind of a lighting fixture is referred to as a surface mounted lighting fixture.

Pendant lights are lighting fixtures that are suspended from the ceiling and are a very popular form of contemporary lighting.

The earliest lamps used in lighting fixtures were fuel lamps like butter lamp, gas lighting, kerosene lamps and the like. Later Davy lamps, Gordie lamps and Xenon arc lamps were used. With the coming of the incandescent lamp A-lamp, parabolic reflector lamp and bulged reflector lamps came to be used. Halogen lamps, a special class of incandescent lamps are widely used. The other types of lamps used in lighting fixtures today are gas discharge lamps, metal halide lamps, mercury vapor lamps and fluorescent lamps.

Lighting fixtures for varied applications are available in several eye catching designs with lamps of required intensity fitted in them.
